One of the two teenagers killed in a crash on a on a rural Highland road last night has been named locally.
John Foggo, 18, of North Kessock was taken to Raigmore Hospital after the crash on the B9006 near Sunnyside, Inverness at 6.50pm yesterday evening (Thursday, March 24).
The Inverness College student died of his injuries.
A 16-year-old female passenger in the Vauxhall car John was a passenger in, died at the scene.
She has been named locally as Georgia Campbell Gilham from Inverness.
Three other occupants of the Vauxhall car were taken to Raigmore Hospital, a 19 year old male driver of the Corsa and and a 16 year old female passenger remain in Raigmore Hospital where they continue to receive treatment for serious injuries.
The road was closed last night and into the morning whilst officers carried out an investigation into the collision involving a black Vauxhall Corsa car and a white Mercedes C Class car.
The driver and passenger of the Mercedes car were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment and later discharged with no serious injuries.
The road was closed for some time to allow collision investigation work to be carried out.
The road has since re-opened.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing and officers appeal to anyone who was travelling on the B9006 before or at the time of the collision and who may have seen either vehicle, to contact Police Scotland on 101.
