Firemen were called out to carry out a high level rescue of the same cat who got stuck up the same tree twice in the space of a week.
It was hoped this piece of feline folly is unlikely to be repeated by nine-month-old Bobby, who was hosed down to distract him while his rescuers safely retrieved him.
The drama began when residents in Stratherrick Park heard Bobby’s cries but could not see him.
Hazel Galbraith, 45, said: “We could hear the wailing and weren’t sure where it was coming from until we looked up – and at the top of this 40ft high tree was the cat.
“It was there overnight and the following day we phoned the Scottish SPCA who couldn’t retrieve it without the help of the fire brigade.
“The inspector called out the fire and rescue service who used ladders to scale the tree and bring Bobby back down.
“But then, just a few days later, Bobby had done it again. My 11-year-old daughter Daisy heard Bobby crying for assistance again.
“She tried to entice him down with a saucer of milk and food at the base of the tree but Bobby wouldn’t budge. So we had to call out the fire brigade again.”
Bobby played hard to get and avoided the firefighters as soon as they got near. So the decision was made to blast Bobby with a hose jet.
Hazel said: “It worked because Bobby got such a fright he couldn’t move and he was brought back down again.
“He is either one stupid cat or the worst climber ever.
“We think the bird feeders near the bottom of the tree attracted it into the branches and he just kept going up and up to try and catch the birds.”
Bobby’s embarrassed owner would not comment about his antics.
