A housing developer has submitted its plans to build new homes and a family restaurant at a prominent Inverness site to Highland Council.
The development at Slackbuie, near the city’s Asda supermarket, would be the first Inverness project for Aberdeen-based Kirkwood Homes.
The scheme involves 60 new homes and a restaurant on the gap site off Sir Walter Scott Drive.
A detailed planning application for the proposal has been submitted to the council and follows on from a public consultation event in March.
Representatives of Kirkwood Homes have also met with Inverness South Community Council to discuss the proposal.
The developer has previously revealed that restaurant firm Marston’s has been lined up to operate from the site, in what be their first franchise in the Highlands, potentially creating up to 48 jobs.
Allan Rae, land director at Kirkwood Homes, said: “I would like to thank all those who attended the public exhibition in March, as well as the Inverness South Community Council for inviting us to present to them earlier this month.
“Feedback obtained from the Public Exhibition and the Community Council meeting, along with the various technical assessments, has helped shape and inform the final layout.”
“We fully believe that the Slackbuie proposals present not only a great opportunity to deliver a mix new family homes in the local area, but importantly create new jobs and an additional leisure offer via the Marston’s proposals .
“We look forward to the application being positively determined by the Highland Council.”
The covers more than nine acres and the development would deliver a mix of three and four bedroom houses.
There would also be 15 affordable homes ranging from one bedroom apartments to three bedroom houses
The new homes would be accessed via the existing Asda roundabout on the B8082 and footpaths will also link from the development into the surrounding area.
