Inverness College UHI has been commended following its first inspection since moving to its new building.
Inspectors from Education Scotland visited the college in March as part of a regular review.
A report published yesterday highlighted a number of positives, including commending the college’s strong leadership from management.
The inspectors also found that “the learner experience of college services in several areas has improved significantly over the past few years”.
The college moved into its purpose built new building at Inverness Campus in August last year and the inspectors acknowledged that there has been “significant change” over the past few years.
Students also moved into the college’s specialist forestry facility in Culloden Woods near Balloch in April last year.
Other positives highlighted included the high percentage of leavers progressing into work or further education, currently sitting at 97%.
Inspectors also praised the growing profile and good work of the students’ association.
Three main points for further action were raised, including raising successful completion rates in certain programmes, improving the managements for applications for learner funding and further developing student engagement in class representation.
Diane Rawlinson, principal and chief executive at Inverness College UHI, welcomed the report.
She said: “This extremely positive report for Inverness College UHI is testament to the commitment shown by staff and students to make their college a leader in the field of further and higher education.
“The past few years have been transformational for the college. Not only have we moved to our new estates at Inverness Campus and Balloch, we have worked hard to foster a culture of continuous improvement and develop closer working relationships with the wider community and the region’s key industries.
“This has contributed greatly to our success and we will continue to build on this going forward.”
She added that the college will be looking to address the issues raised for further action in the coming academic year.
