A care worker from Inverness will face a a hearing next week for allegedly failing to carry out a welfare check on a patient and then lying about doing so.
Colin Graham will face the charge in front of a Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) conduct sub conduct committee on Monday and Tuesday.
Mr Graham, while employed by Birchwood Highland as a support worker at Birchwood Highland Recovery Centre, allegedly failed to carry out an instruction to undertake a welfare check on a patient on April 16 and 17 last year.
The charge states that Graham recorded on April 17 that the patient was “in the flat all night. Given w/f check and not heard responding at all through the night”, or words to that effect.
Mr Graham allegedly failed to inform his shift co-ordinator, when reporting to her, that he had not carried out a welfare check on the patient.
The conduct sub committee will consider whether the charge is proven and, if so, whether the charge constitutes misconduct and whether the worker has breached the SSSC code of practice for social service workers.
