Police are investigating after reports of a man acting suspiciously in woods near an Inverness housing estate.

The incident was reported at about 2.50pm on Thursday by a member of the public who spotted the man between King Duncan’s Road and Old Perth Road in the Raigmore Estate.

The man is understood not to have approached anyone but police described his behaviour as “potentially suspicious”.

The incident was reported by a member of the public and police believe others walking in the woods may have also seen the man in the area.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area following the report.

He has been described as being in his late teens to mid-20s, around 5ft 8in in height and of medium build.

He was wearing a light blue hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

A police spokeswoman said: “Local officers have been carrying out high visibility patrols in the area to provide reassurance to members of the public.

“It should be noted that whilst the matter may be innocuous, police are treating this seriously and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen someone behaving in a potentially suspicious manner in the area. ”

She added: “Police are appealing to anyone with information to assist inquiries to make contact via 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
