A number of cars were damaged and a riverside church broken into in a late night vandalism spree in Inverness.
The spree resulted in a car being stolen and later discovered set on fire near Alness.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident which saw at least eight cars damaged.
Damage was also caused to the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints on Ness Walk, with windows and doors smashed and a speaker system destroyed.
It is estimated that the damage was caused at around 10pm after the conclusion of an event at the Mormon church.
Several cars on surrounding streets were either damaged or broken into in surrounding streets such as Bishops Park, Kessock Court and Royal Ness Court.
Nothing was reported stolen from either the church or the cars.
The damage was discovered at the church by elders on Saturday morning.
Brian Kane, family history director at the church, said it was too early to put a value on the damage caused but described the incident such as the damage to the speaker system as “annoying” because of disruption to services at the church.
He said: “There was nothing stolen as far as we can see.
“We don’t keep money in the chapel at all so if that’s what they were after then they would be disappointed.
“It’s just strange that anyone would want to do something like this, it’s just daft. It’s disappointing.”
Firefighters attended to the car on fire near the Corkscrew road near Alness at around 3am on Saturday morning.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Police have linked the fire with the spate of incidents in Inverness, saying the spate as “culminating” in the destruction of the vehicle.
A police spokeswoman said: “As part of ongoing inquiries, police are appealing to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in the area to make contact via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
She added: “Police advise anyone who suspects their vehicle has been damaged or entered without permission to make contact via 101.”
Meanwhile police are also appealing for witnesses after a red Yamaha motorcycle was removed from a car park in the Coulpark area of Alness in the early hours of Friday morning and was later found damaged and abandoned nearby.
The incident happened between 1am and 1.30am on Friday, May 20.
Anyone with information should contact 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
