A forecast of high winds led to the newly reinstated flights between Heathrow and Inverness being cancelled yesterday.
British Airways said it had cancelled the flights because the forecast limited the number of aircraft at Heathrow.
The 9.50am flight due to leave Heathrow at 9.50am was cancelled as was the return trip due to head south from Inverness at 12.10pm.
A spokesman for British Airways said: “We’re sorry that some of our customers’ travel plans on Tuesday have been affected due to the forecast high winds at Heathrow, which will lead to a reduction in the number of aircraft that can land each hour.
“Airlines and Heathrow Airport have agreed to operate a slightly reduced schedule to help mitigate the effects of the high winds.
“We are doing everything we can to minimise disruption, and offer customers alternative travel plans.
“We would advise customers to check ba.com for the latest information about their flights.”
Affected customers will be offered a chance to rearrange their journey or claim a refund.
The link between the Highlands and Heathrow was reinstated in May, having previously not operated since 1997.
The flight was welcomed by tourism bosses and political leaders as a major boost to connectivity in the Highlands.
