Preparations are well underway as Inverness gets set to welcome Rod Stewart in one of the north’s biggest gigs in years.
The veteran rocker will take to the stage at the Caledonian Stadium on Saturday evening six years after he last performed in the Highlands.
The football ground is being transformed for the occasion, with thousands expected to watch him belt out his famous hits such as Maggie May and Handbags and Gladrags.
Inverness is the latest stop on the 71-year-olds UK stadium tour.
Roadies have been working throughout the week at the home of Inverness Caledonian Thistle to erect the main stage and prepare for the fully-seated show.
Preparations are also underway around the ground, with marquees assembled
Highland Council confirmed earlier this week that Stadium Road will be closed to general traffic before, during and after the gig, with a temporary one-way restriction operating for coaches and emergency vehicles.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police would emphasise that Stadium Road will be closed to general traffic on Saturday, with the closest drop off and pick up point being Longman Drive.
“Concert attendees are encouraged to use the shuttle bus service which will be operating from 2.30pm from Inverness Bus Station to the stadium and returning from 10pm.
“Pedestrians will be directed to the footpath under the Kessock Bridge before and after the concert and are urged to take care at all times.
“Parking is available in the Rose Street car park.
“Police Scotland Highland and Islands Division hopes the event is safe and enjoyable for all. Officers and stewards will be on hand at the event should you require any assistance.”
The singer was recently knighted in the Queen’s birthday honours list and was previously made a CBE.
His last appearance in Inverness was watched by a crowd of more than 19,000.
He will be supported by his daughter Ruby Stewart’s band The Sisterhood who will act as the warm-up performance.
