An Inverness man has been fined after refusing to turn his music down and barricading himself inside a house when police arrived.
Gary Paterson, 24, of 79 Laurel Avenue, appeared at the city’s sheriff court yesterday.
He admitted that, between July 23-24 last year at an address in Rosehaugh Road, he played music to a level which was loud enough to cause annoyance to other people.
He admitted a further charge of resisting four police constables by shouting at them, repeatedly refusing to turn down the volume, refusing to open the door and eventually barricading himself in to prevent police from seizing the music equipment.
Fiscal depute Ross Carvel said that Paterson had positioned a sofa against the door to prevent the police officers from entering.
Representing himself, Paterson said: “I would like to apologise for wasting the time of the police and the courts.”
He said he had a daughter who was born in January and now appreciated “that music at night is not ok”.
Sheriff Peter Grant-Hutchison fined Paterson £480.
