A Black Isle man due to be sentenced for threatening to burn down a hotel during a seven-hour siege has had his sentence further deferred after he refused to fill out forms for his own background report.
Andrew McHattie, of 1 Stables Court, Munlochy, previously admitted the charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner during the incident at the Tarradale Hotel in Muir of Ord on June 3.
During the siege, the 37-year-old also threatened police with violence, lunged at officers with a hammer and threw coins at his stepfather, William Dickson, and attempted to set fire to a duvet.
McHattie, who yesterday appeared from custody unrepresented at Inverness Sheriff Court, said: “I think you are all wasting time. I think you should just give me a custodial sentence now”.
Sentence was deferred until July 14 and McHattie was remanded in custody.
