A former Highland Council social worker who was struck off after falsely claiming for travel expenses is appealing against her sanction.
Kubeshni Gounder was found by the Scottish Social Services Council to have dishonestly submitted financial claims for service users – including one application for support for a baby using another social worker’s name.
The false claim sparked an internal investigation by the council and ultimately led to Ms Gounder being struck off by the industry watchdog.
The social worker was employed at the time as team manager for the Inverness central area.
She has been removed from the social work register by the SSSC in June, with the industry watchdog branding her behaviour a “blatant disregard” for their code of conduct.
However, the social worker has now appealed the decision to strike her off.
Appeals regarding an SSSC sanction are heard at Dundee Sheriff Court, the city where the regulator is based.
