A man is due to appear in court today in connection with a siege which took place in Inverness on Monday night.
Police said that five people were initially taken into custody following a number of calls about a disturbance in Bruce Gardens in the Dalneigh area of the city.
And yesterday a spokesman confirmed that a 31-year-old man will appear in court today.
A 34-year-old woman who was at the flat also appeared in court yesterday but in connection with another matter.
Yesterday the spokesman said: “A number of police assets from around Scotland were deployed to bring the incident to a conclusion in addition to personnel from the Scottish Fire and Rescue and Ambulance Service.
“Police inquires are ongoing and officers from the Community Policing Team will be in Bruce Gardens to provide reassurance to the community. The public are thanked for their patience and support during this incident which resulted in local road closures for approximately six hours”.
A crowd of residents gathered to watch on Monday night as officers in full riot gear entered the property in Bruce Gardens after the lengthy stand-off.
A section of Bruce Gardens – between its junctions with Smith Avenue and Bruce Park – was cordoned off with yellow tape while the incident took place.
Officers wearing helmets and shoulderpads and holding riot shields stood guard along with around three riot vans. Police dogs were also brought in by police to assist.
Following a large smashing sound just after police broke inside, onlookers saw a man appearing at a balcony as the dramatic events unfolded.
At least three ambulances were also dispatched to the scene and several police cars were parked in the area throughout most of the night.
Events appeared to come to an end at about 11.30pm when the road re-opened to motorists.
