Emergency crews were called to the accident at the Munlochy junction of the Inverness to Thurso road just after 2.05pm. The accident involved two cars – a Nissan Qashqai and a Seat Ibiza. A fire service spokesman confirmed that all occupants of the vehicles were out of their cars and were accounted for when they arrived. However, the Seat caught fire following the collision and had to be extinguished by firefighters. The road was partially blocked and police directed traffic past the scene.
