The picture shows a hapless cow stuck deep in the wet, muddy ground near Portree.
Firefighters from Portee and Staffin were alerted to the incident at around 2pm on Saturday.
Two appliances were sent to the scene to help lift the cow out of the bog with a rope rescue team.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said that the cow was taken to the local vet.
He said: “Fire crews were alerted at 2.01pm on Saturday, May 19 to reports of a cow stuck in mud in Portree, on the Isle of Skye.
“Operations Control immediately mobilised two appliances to the scene, near the B883 road.
“The crews, who are skilled in rope rescue, worked in partnership with local crofters to stabilise and secure the animal before assisting it to safety.
