The whale has appeared to have made a bay on Skye its home, delighting wildlife watchers. The large mammal, which can grow up to 52ft, has been spotted for over two weeks in and around Tianavaig Bay and the Inner Sound of Raasay. It was in the area again on Wednesday when it breached the water within 30ft of Brian Wells’ boat, Golden Dawn. Mr Wells, who was skippering his 28-feet fishing boat with his brother Neil crewing, reached for his mobile phone and snapped away. “It was truly spectacular,” said the 32-year-old from Portree. “It has been around for over two weeks now and other boats say there is also a calf but we have not seen it.”
