Upgrades worth almost £200,000 are being carried out three locations on the A87 on Skye.
Work got under way yesterday on the work, which will repair sections of the route that were damaged by the winter weather.
The Cuidrach section of the road is being repaired this week, with traffic management systems in place.
Work at Kensaleyre will be carried out from Monday, April 4 to Friday, April 8, with a full night-time closure of the route between the bridge to the south of the village and approximately 330 yards north of Kensaleyre.
Repairs at the Old Corry section will be carried out the following Monday and Tuesday.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s north-west representative, said: “Following identification of a number of areas where the road surface has deteriorated over winter we considered it essential that a programme of works be brought forward on the A87 on Skye.
“These works will greatly improve the condition of the road surface in these locations, but also making it more resilient to weather conditions in future years.
“We have taken steps to minimise disruption as much as possible during the works, including avoiding working at weekends and carrying out the Kensaleyre road improvements at night and maintaining hourly local access at this section when a road closure is in place for safety.
“We’d encourage motorists to plan ahead where possible and check the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
