Car destroyed by blaze in Lerwick

A car was destroyed and a second vehicle damaged in a blaze at the old swimming pool car park at the Hillhead, in Lerwick, this morning.

Two fire crews from Lerwick were called out at just before 9am to find the small car well ablaze.

It took them 20 minutes to extinguish the fire and a vehicle parked next to the one on fire was damaged by the heat.

Police had blocked off the access road to the car park for a time.

No one was injured.
