Police were last night investigating a serious assault at a house in a Moray town.
Officers were called to the property in Elgin around 3pm following reports of a disturbance..
An ambulance was called to take a man in his 30s to the town’s Dr Gray’s Hospital, where he remained overnight for treatment.
A police spokeswoman said his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Three people were detained following the incident but last night no one had been charged.
Officers cordoned off a large stretch of ground to the rear of the property, in Duncan Drive, as they tried to piece-together what had happened.
Forensic experts and scene of crime officers dressed in white suits arrived at the scene around 6pm.
They took dozens of photographs in and around the building.
Officers later searched an overgrown garden and could be seen bagging and removing several items from it.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police attended at Duncan Drive at 2.57pm, following an assault at an address there.
“Officers remained at the scene while investigations were carried out, and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
“We can confirm that the victim is a male in his 30s, but he is not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
“Three people were detained following the incident, but no one has been charged.”
