Singers from Moray’s military wives choirs have returned from a trip to an Edinburgh concert venue after being involved in the recording of a new Christmas CD.
Members of both the Kinloss and Lossiemouth groups took part in the sessions at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall.
They said the poignant lyrics of Home for Christmas, the record’s title track, were so evocative that they were brought to tears when they listened to it again.
The song describes the struggle which forces spouses face when their loved ones are deployed overseas during the festive season.
Kinloss chorister Jenn French explained that the singers were taken into a sound room after their performance, so they could listen to the tracks.
She added: “The eyes of everyone in that room were filled with tears when we heard it, we couldn’t believe we had been part of something so beautiful.
“The song Home for Christmas means a lot to us, and my husband will be away this winter, so I was singing it and thinking about how it relates to me.”
The Moray singers joined in unison with other choirs from across the UK for the session, and also recorded a version of traditional favourite Deck the Halls.
RAF Lossiemouth choir member Victoria Moffat said the experience was “absolutely amazing”.
She added: “The two songs we recorded sounded beautiful.”
Vocal coach Mark De-Lisser, who has trained singers on BBC’s The Voice and helped pop star Olly Murs, guided the women through the performance.
The album will be released in November, and the proceeds will be donated to the Military Wives Choir Foundation charity.
