Top gun pilots from Moray will tour the globe with the world famous Red Arrows as part of an exercise next month.
The Typhoon crews from RAF Lossiemouth will jet off for training in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
While on the other side of the world the aircraft will also wow crowds while taking part in spectacular aerial displays in South Korea and Japan before returning to the UK in November – while the Red Arrows continue to India and China.
The crews have been based in Cyprus continuing operations in the fight against Daesh in Iraq and Syria.
This week the aces bombed a building held by the so-called Islamic State group to the east of Mosul in Iraq on Monday.
The following day two flights of Typhoons successfully struck two mortar teams and an artillery piece near Mosul and Qayyarah.
The far-flung flights have been scheduled as part of Exercise Eastern Venture, which sees UK crews team up with forces from the countries they will be visiting.
Air Chief Marshall Sir Stephen Hillier said: “This exercise is tremendously important and it demonstrates that even though the Royal Air Force is committee to operations in the Middle East and elsewhere, we still have the capacity to deploy effectively to the other side of the world, with both Typhoons, supporting Voyagers and air transport, and the Red Arrows as well.
“This reinforces the message that the UK is a globally-engaged player with global power, reinforcing our relationship with partners, and also promoting UK prosperity.”
