Police are looking for witnesses after four people were taken to hospital following a crash on a country road in Moray.
Two cars were involved in a head-on collision on the B9010 between Rafford and Kellas shortly after 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services rushed to the crumpled blue Volkswagen Golf and grey Honda Civic and immediately sealed off the road.
Ambulance crews took the two drivers and two passengers to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin following the incident.
A 95-year-old female passenger in the Golf and the 61-year-old female driver were kept in hospital overnight for observation.
Yesterday, a police spokeswoman explained precautionary checks were needed due to concerns about the age of the pensioner passenger.
The 20-year-old male driver of the Civic and 25-year-old female passenger were allowed home the same day after treatment for minor injuries.
Fire crews were also called to the scene, but were not required.
Officers immediately launched an investigation at the scene while both cars remained on the twisty rural road near Tulloch Low Wood. Bits of broken bodywork were examined by experts, who were called to the woodland location.
Now, police have launched an appeal to try and establish the sequence of events that led to the head-on collision.
Road policing constable Lesley Morrison said: “We have already spoken with a number of witnesses.
“However, in order to fully establish the circumstances of what happened, we would be interested in speaking with anyone else, who may have seen the collision or either vehicle immediately beforehand.
Anyone who has information about the incident should contact police by phoning 101.
