A Moray town stepped back to the days of Jurassic Park for a Halloween street parade.
Elgin shoppers were thrilled when Tyrant the Tyrannosaurus Rex stomped his way across the plainstones in the town centre.
Eight-year-old Caydance Krugel tamed the beast before leading it on a chain with dozens of other children in fancy dress following in her footsteps.
The youngster playfully tickled the baby dinosaur under its neck and patted it on the nose while members of the public took photographs of the fearsome creature.
Caydance gained the right to hold the chain during the town centre parade after winning a competition at Elgin business improvement district’s (Bid) Halloween fun day.
Throughout the afternoon, witches, dragons and vampires – and even a few cowboys – packed into the town centre for spooky and ghoulish fun.
Some children were eager to get close enough to Tyrant to have their picture taken with the predator while others shied away after seeing the size of his teeth.
SE Productions entered into the spirit of the occasion as they wore zombie and skeleton make-up during their dance shows.
Gill Neil, manager of Elgin Bid, was delighted to see so many youngsters making an extra effort to dress up for the party.
She said: “This event is really all about doing something for the families. Halloween has certainly grown in popularity in recent years and some of the costumes were really great.
“It’s nice to let one of the children lead the T-Rex. It’s very popular and it will probably be something they will remember forever and keep photographs of it.”
