An Elgin football pitch has been vandalised by someone on a vehicle performing skids.
Police believe sometime between 2pm on October 30 and 9am on November 2, a vehicle was driven onto the pitch at Morriston Playing Fields, Morriston Road, and was used to perform skids, damaging the grass.
Investigating officer, constable Barry Corbett said:Â “This is a mindless act of vandalism that has seen the grass at Morriston playing fields churned up and badly damaged by someone using a vehicle to perform skids and similar.
“A number of community groups and clubs that rely on using the playing fields cannot play on the pitch in its current state and will have to look elsewhere to play their games until the damage is sorted.
“We will be checking CCTV in the area in an effort to catch the culprits. However, I know a number of dog walkers and locals use the area on a regular basis and I would appeal to anyone who has information about this vandalism to contact us to assist us with our enquiries. ”
Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on ‘101’ or, if they wish to remain anonymous, by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
