A haul of suspected counterfeit goods has been seized by trading standards staff in Moray.
Officers recovered clothes, shoes and electrical goods as well as receipts showing a “substantial” amount of sales.
Police and council staff swooped on the home after gathering intelligence from a secret Facebook group.
The raid follows two prosecutions in Moray this year for people caught selling fake goods. A woman caught with £40,000 of fake clothing and a crook caught by police with £20,000 worth of dodgy clothes were both sentenced to 165 hours of unpaid work at Elgin Sheriff Court this year.
Moray Council’s trading standards manager Peter Adamson said consumers were taking risks by buying counterfeit products.
He said: “Fake electrical goods are potentially dangerous and the manufacture and distribution of all fake goods funds organised crime and blights many lives.
“Recently the trade has gone underground using closed and secret online selling groups to evade detection.
“But illegal sellers attempting to avoid the attention of trading standards by using secret groups are likely to be disappointed.”
Shoppers have been advised to only buy items from reputable sources. Anyone with concerns should call trading standards on 03454 040506 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. E-mails can be sent to trading.standards@moray.gov.uk
