A group of colourfully-costumed performers made a flying visit to RAF Lossiemouth to bring a spot of early festive cheer to the base.
The Moray airfield’s Fulmar Suite played host to a “pop up pantomime”, which brought personnel and their families together.
Senior officers said the Cinderella show offered servicemen and women the opportunity to relax and forget about their high-pressure jobs for an evening.
Officer Commanding Base Support Wing, Dan Lunnon-Wood, attended the performance with his two young children.
And, in one of pantomime’s grand traditions, he was cajoled onto the stage by the youngsters to take part in a dance routine with the Ugly Sisters and comedy character Buttons.
After the show, the RAF officer turned his thoughts to his comrades who are on deployment and will spend Christmas and New Year away from their loved ones.
He said: “Whilst the pantomime is one of the seasonal highlights for our station families, we are especially aware of our personnel who are deployed overseas at this time of year.
“Events such as this are a great way to bring everyone together, particularly the families of those deployed, to promote our wider community spirit and support.”
The show was performed by the Panto Bus Touring Company, a travelling production outfit, which visits locations all over the UK with seasonal shows.
The visit was funded by the British Forces Foundation, a charity which provides entertainment to boost the morale of troops and their families.
More than 100 RAF Lossiemouth personnel were deployed to Cyprus last December to take part in air strikes against the IS terrorist group in Syria.
