A majestic lights show which illuminated a Moray forest brightened business around Forres by more than £100,000.
Organisers behind the Colours of Cluny event have revealed that it contributed in excess of £125,000 to the local economy during its run.
Across 10 evenings earlier this month, Cluny Hill was transformed into an enchanted woods with trees glowing in various vibrant hues.
And the 12,500 people who flocked to observe the spectacle helped stimulate trade at nearby shops, restaurants and hotels.
The event was staged by the Forres Features Community Interest Company, a non-profit organisation which spent £120,000 arranging the display.
Chairman Graham Murdoch yesterday said proceeds from this year would be used to fund the event’s return next November.
Mr Murdoch said: “We have had visitors from as far north as Wick and as far south as Airdrie attending, and the economic benefit to the local area has been fantastic.
“Initial indications are positive that the event’s impact on the local economy was in excess of £125,000.”
Mr Murdoch also unveiled plans to expand Colours of Cluny next year to incorporate new parts of the town.
He added: “We have decided to introduce many new and exciting sound and light concepts, hopefully extending the footprint of the event within Grant Park.
“The best part has been to see people young and old clearly enjoying themselves and being so complimentary towards all aspects of the event.”
Benches had been provided to offer visitors a rest as they weaved their way up the hill and took in the colourful scenes.
Mr Murdoch confirmed that several of the seats would now become a permanent fixture on the hill, to encourage more people to make the most of Forres’s scenery.
