Work has finished on a sheltered housing complex aimed at getting older people in Moray to receive treatment in the community instead of in hospital.
The complex on Leask Road in Forres has five flats, with qualified nurses on-hand 24 hours a day.
The specialist Hanover Housing Association development, Varis Court, has been designed to replicate a homely environment instead of clinical wards.
It is hoped the different atmosphere will encourage a more rapid recovery for patients moving back into the community.
The accommodation, which has been developed with Heath and Social Care Moray, could also be an alternative for locals to be admitted to hospital for treatment.
A large courtyard and shared lounge have been incorporated into the design for tenants to enjoy the outdoors or meet other residents.
Chief executive of Hanover Scotland, Helen Murdoch, is proud the new development will allow residents to have all their needs met while receiving care.
She said: “They will be able to enjoy their independence while living in their own comfortable and warm homes. We are particularly pleased that we have been able to bring health care into the community as well.
“People prefer being cared for in familiar surroundings rather than in a clinical hospital – not only is this better for their recovery or care but it is also far more efficient for local health services.
“By working closely with Health and Social Care Moray I believe we have a leading blueprint for other developments already in the pipeline in this area and across Scotland.”
