A motorist was rushed to hospital on Christmas Eve after his car went off the road and landed on its roof.
The burgundy Ford Focus was entering Elgin when it crashed at about 7.30am.
Fire and ambulance crews rushed to the scene on the A941 Elgin to Lossiemouth, near where the speed restrictions begin, after nearby residents raised the alarm.
The male driver was reported as having “sore ribs and abdomen” when medics arrived, and he was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital for precautionary checks.
The car was driving into the town from the Lossiemouth direction when it mounted the grass verge and careered towards a field near a slight bend.
Before it hit the fence the Focus barrel-rolled and came to rest on its roof in a small ditch. Turf cut up from the ground and mud had become wedged between the wheel and bodywork.
Air bags could be seen deployed in the car while the rear windscreen was no longer attached to the vehicle with mud and grass smeared across the back of the Ford.
A police spokesman said: “The incident was reported to us at 7.30am. There had been a few people that had phoned in about it.
“The driver was complaining about sore ribs and abdomen and he was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital for a check-up.”
The car remained at the side of the road yesterday afternoon wrapped in blue police tape. Officers have confirmed
arrangements have been made to recover the vehicle.
A fire spokeswoman said: “We were called to a one-vehicle collision. There was one male casualty. We were called to make the vehicle safe.”
