An amateur photographer caught two of the world’s favourite natural phenomena – a rainbow and a beautiful sunrise – in the same shot.
Gary Paul, 49, takes landscape photographs all across Scotland, but was surprised to capture the stunning picture last week.
The forklift driver from Elgin, Moray, regularly goes to East Beach in nearby Lossiemouth to take pictures of the sunrise.
It gives the small Moray town an angelic glow as a rainbow wraps itself around it.
But Gary was humble about the picture, attributing it to luck and being in the right place at the right time.
He said: “There’s a few contrasts on the beach with a really red sky one way and it was very dark blue the other way with the rain coming from the north.
“Then the rainbow appeared over it. And because of the sunlight, the town looks golden and you get a really good contrast between the buildings and the darkness of the sky.
“I use the beach quite a lot because it’s a great place to take in the sunrise. I focused on the rainbow because it’s not something I’ve seen at that time before and knew it wouldn’t last.
“It’s one of those things with photography where you’re in the right place at the right time.
“The Moray Firth is fantastic. You get every season in every day and it has such a beautiful coastline.”
