More than 20 firefighters battled through the night to tackle a major blaze after it ripped through a Moray building.
Four crews were called to The Square in the Newmill area of Keith and worked for more than four hours to bring the flames under control.
A total of 22 firefighters were called, including appliances from Huntly, Keith and Fochabers and a height vehicle from Aberdeen Central.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said last night that the property appeared to be a two-storey side building and was “well alight” by the time crews arrived.
The spokeswoman said: “We got the call just after 12.30am. It was a two-storey building but we don’t know if it was in use.
“The fire was well alight and appears to have moved up through the ceiling and caused significant damage.”
“We had three appliances as well as a height vehicle and a water carrier. The last appliance didn’t leave until 4.55am but the first appliance left at 4.05am.”
She added that no one appeared to have been injured in the accident.
Police Scotland were also in attendance at the scene yesterday as investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
A spokesman for the force said: “Police were made aware of a fire at a derelict property at The Square, Newmill, by Keith which had occurred at around 12.30am.
“Enquiries are at an early stage to establish how the fire started. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Police Scotland on 101.”
