A car fire has brought sections of Moray’s busiest road to a standstill this morning.
Fire crews were called to the A96 about three miles east of Forres at about 8.30am today after smoke started coming from the vehicle.
Long tailbacks have been reported on the busy trunk road as motorists attempt to make their way to work.
A police spokeswoman said: “At this stage the cause seems to be mechanical instead of as a result of any accident.
“The car is in a lay-by and the fire service is in attendance. There were traffic issues to begin with but now the tailbacks could be as a result of people slowing down to take a look.”
