A man who was struck by a lorry just moments after leaving hospital has died.
54-year-old Gerard Campbell from Elgin was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital following the incident involving an articulated lorry at around 12.35pm on Saturday.
He was later transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died from his injuries yesterday.
The accident happened on West Road – part of the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness route.
Police sealed off the road by the petrol station for about five hours to allow collision investigators to piece together what happened.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Police.
Roads Policing Sergeant Colin Matheson said: “Our thoughts are obviously with family and friends of Mr Campbell at this very sad time.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information, or anyone who was at the scene at the time and has not yet spoken to the Police, to get in touch by calling 101.”
