Fire crews have been called to a house fire in Moray.
Emergency calls were made shortly after 4pm today after flames were spotted at an Elgin Road home in Lossiemouth.
Three fire engines have been sent to the scene and the public have been warned to stay away from the area.
Fire crews remain at the scene to get the flames under control.
Police have closed Elgin Road in the town between Inchbroom Road and Coulardbank Road.
A fire spokeswoman said: “We are currently in attendance at Elgin Road in Lossiemouth after receiving a call at 4.13pm.”
A police spokesman said: “Police and fire services have attended and the fire is still being tackled at the moment. The public are asked to avoid the area if possible.”
UPDATE: Police have confirmed that one person has died following the incident.
A police statement said: “Sadly there was one fatality. No other persons were injured.
“From initial inquiries it appears that there are no suspicious circumstances.
“Police officers will remain at the address overnight and a joint fire investigation will take place on Thursday February 16.
“The identity of the deceased will not be released until next of kin are aware and formal identification has taken place.”
