A Moray couple have been left devastated after thieves towed away their beloved caravan.
Jim and Gillian Walker had made the finishing touches to their holiday home last week in readiness for taking it back on the road during the warmer weather.
However, the couple have been devastated after their pride and joy was stolen from the lorry park on Edindiach Road in Keith.
Mr Walker said: “There were so many personal touches in it – so many memories.
“We’ve only had that one for three years, but we’ve had caravans for years before that and moved items from one to the other.
“It’s awful it has been stolen but it’s so much worse to know these dirty slime-bags have been going through our own private stuff. It’s just like an extension to our home.”
Mr and Mrs Walker were in Aberdeen for the weekend, prior to receiving a call from a family member to tell them the caravan was missing.
Last week, the family had decked out the holiday home with clean linen ready for an overnight stay.
The couple rushed back home to try and trace vital clues that could lead to them catching the culprits.
CCTV footage from a nearby builder’s yard captured two men loitering near the Sterling Eccles Moonstone caravan at about 7.30am on Sunday morning.
Cameras on the A96 subsequently caught footage of it being driven out of Keith towards Elgin by a silver and dark green 4×4 at 7.40am.
Mr Walker was shocked to discover his treasured caravan, which he regularly took on family seaside holidays with his 14-year-old daughter to Lossiemouth and further afield, had been taken in less than 10 minutes.
He added: “There were two locks on it and they have been cut off. The worst of it is that you don’t even need a hacksaw to do it now.
“With a battery grinder, they could have got it off and towed it away in about five or 10 minutes.”
Mr Walker said that police are now investigating the theft. Anyone with information should contact officers by phoning 101.
