A recent spate of thefts in Moray has continued at the weekend.
Commercial properties in Forres and Findhorn were targeted in raids after a series of break-ins at homes last week.
Thieves took a small amount of cash from one of the businesses at the weekend while damage was caused at the other as they tried to break in.
Police are now urging residents to keep their homes locked at all times to reduce the risk of robbers getting inside.
Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson said: “Moray is one of the safest places in the country, but it doesn’t mean we can be complacent when it comes to the security of our valuables.
“A massive amount of proactive work is carried out by officers daily across the entire division to tackle acquisitive crime, however the public can play the most crucial role of all by locking their homes, vehicles, garages and sheds in the first place.
“In many cases, the perpetrators are simply trying doors until they find one unlocked, therefore the simple step of locking your doors and windows and not leaving expensive equipment on display can be the most effective deterrent of all.”
The weekend raids follow thefts last week where war medals were stolen from a home in Sheriffston near Elgin and jewellery was taken from a house in Dufftown.
Anyone with information about the incidents should call police by phoning 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
