Police have launched an investigation into the “unexplained” death of a woman at her Elgin home.
The 46-year-old, named locally as Alison Wood, was discovered at the weekend in the town’s Waulkmill Grove.
Investigating officers say it appears that there were no suspicious circumstances.
Her neighbours were yesterday too upset to discuss what had happened, other than to say that Mrs Wood was “a nice person”.
Police officers have maintained a presence outside the property since the weekend.
However, a police spokeswoman stressed that there were “no apparent suspicious circumstances” attached to the incident.
She said: “Police were called in relation to the sudden death of a 46-year-old woman in the Waulkmill Grove area of Elgin at around 7.30am on Saturday.
“The death is being treated as unexplained but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.
“As is standard, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
It is understood that Mrs Wood worked at a bookmakers in Lossiemouth, and previously worked at the Ladbrokes on Elgin’s Main Road.
