A classical concert will take place next month to help raise funds for the transformation of an Elgin monastery.
Plans have been launched to build an extension to the Pluscarden Abbey which will allow women and people with carers to use the area when on a retreat.
In order to raise funds monks will embark on a three month, 1,300 mile long pilgrimage later this year travelling from Burgundy in France to the north of Scotland.
But to help make the journey a possibility Catherine Ross MBE will host a fundraising concert in Aberdeen next month.
The event will take place on St Mary’s RC Cathedral on Huntly Street on Wednesday, April 12.
Mrs Ross said: “I was approached for my help, to find practical items for the Pilgrimage, this I have achieved.
“I then decided that I would organise a classical concert.
“This will indeed be a wonderful concert, taking part are the Benedictine monks of the abbey who will perform their Gregorian Chant, which is really quite special.”
She added that she was very impressed by the work carried out by monks.
She said: “Until I was asked for my help, I had never met a monk and when I did I was quite taken by the work and the life they lead.
“The Benedictines are known for their devout faith, serving God.
“The Abbey is opened to anyone who wished to stay on retreat, no matter what their faith, or indeed should they have no faith.”
