The animal had to be hoisted from an embankment near Sluie Lodge, south of Forres, after the incident was reported at about 1.20pm. Two fire teams from Forres and another from Elgin were called to the scene and rescued the dog using a rope line system. A fire and rescue spokesman said: “We have been involved in the rescue of a dog at a cliff. We were called at 1.21pm. “We had two appliances from Forres and an appliance from Elgin. We used a line rescue system.” The dog survived the incident. Police were first notified of the situation and called the fire and rescue service for assistance. A spokeswoman for Aberdeen Coastguard said: “We were notified but had no involvement.”
