The incident took place just before 5pm on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road through the Moray town, and brought rush hour traffic to a crawl. The crash occurred just outside Elgin’s bus station and several panicked passengers described the “flurry of activity” that followed. It is thought that the male motorcyclist did not suffer serious injuries in the collision. The eastbound carriageway remained closed for 30 about minutes, but reopened at 5.20pm.
