Parents at a Moray school have renewed hope in attracting a new head teacher.
Moray Council advertised for a new head at West End Primary School in Elgin for the third time last month.
And in an attempt to boost interest for the post the parent council filmed a heartfelt video urging applicants to “join us”.
Staff praised the close-knit school community in the video while pupils beamed about the range of activities.
The video was included in online adverts for the post and the film has been viewed nearly 3,000 times.
Yesterday Moray Council revealed the footage had had an effect on attracting people to apply for the position.
Parent council chairwoman Alex Dunbar said: “A lot of people liked it. I think there has been some national interest around the UK in it, which is what we wanted.
“It was not just for people in Moray but also for beyond because there might be somebody in Durham or York with 10 or 20 years experience, you just don’t know.”
Mrs Dunbar added: “The recruitment situation is really bad in Moray. There are so many people retiring and there just aren’t the applicants to replace them.”
A Moray Council spokesman explained education staff would begin drawing up a list of candidates for West End Primary to interview after the school holidays.
He said: “It appears the video may have generated some interest but that is difficult to quantify at this stage. The appointment process will begin with the drawing up of a short list next week.”
