Kieran McQuillan died earlier this month when he was struck by a van while playing with friends at the town’s Brechan Rig. His grieving family resolved to make sure the seven-year-old’s funeral reflected his passions in life. And yesterday, a cavalcade of bright blue Subaru Imprezas trailed behind the hearse bearing Kieran’s coffin. The vehicles and their owners initially gathered at Elgin Town Hall, where mourners had assembled for an emotional service of remembrance at 1.30pm. The gleaming performance cars thereafter followed the hearse up Bishopmill Brae and towards Lossiemouth, where Kieran was laid to rest. Other cars on the busy town centre road slowed to a crawl as drivers respectfully observed the sombre procession.
