A injured pensioner was found lying in a Moray street last night.
The 68-year-old man was discovered in Fairisle Place in Lossiemouth at around midnight.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information about what happened to come forward.
The injured man is described as white with a greying beard, approximately 5ft4in tall with a stocky build and was wearing a checked shirt, blue jeans and a dark coloured hooded top.
A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish how the male sustained his injuries which at this time are unexplained.
“The injured male remains in hospital in a serious condition.”
