A Moray nursery group has been donated £4,000 to carry out improvements on its new home.
The Ladybird Development group moved into freshly vacated rooms at Lossiemouth’s St Gerardine’s Primary School last month.
While celebrating their new permanent base, organisers knew that upgrades were required to bring it up to scratch for their young patrons.
The charity is run independently of the school, and works exclusively with children who have additional support needs.
Staff resolved to embark on a fundraising mission to renovate the “sensory room” where children go to relax.
And a timely donation from Moray whisky powerhouse, Gordon and MacPhail, has boosted the crusade.
The firm held a series of events throughout the year, including a bake sale, a Burns lunch, a strawberry and cream tea and a Christmas raffle.
And all proceeds raised from the 5p bag charge at the company’s shop in Elgin’s South Street were contributed to the fund.
The Ladybird Development Group’s Shona Stewart said: “We are very grateful to Gordon and MacPhail for choosing us as their charity of the year and for this wonderful donation.
“We appreciate every penny that is donated and this huge donation will go a long way towards adapting our sensory room and soft play area in our new premises. “We will be adding to these areas as we raise the funds to do so, and this donation gives us a huge head start.”
Gordon and MacPhail director, Neil Urquhart, added: “We are honoured to have supported the Ladybird Development Group as our charity of the year.
“The care that the organisation offers to pre-school children who have a range of additional support needs is inspirational.
