Fresh details have been unveiled about what fitness fans can expect inside a multi-million sports complex in Moray’s biggest down.
New computer-generated images show the interior of four rooms inside the Moray Sports Centre project in Elgin.
The sneak-peak comes as a date has been fixed in June for plans to go before councillors to make a decision.
The £12million proposals were initially due to go before the planning committee last month but had to be postponed due to council elections.
The latest batch of images give a first look at the building’s main studio, a cycling room for up to 35 bikes, a mind and body
studio and a GP room.
Yesterday the sport centre’s chief executive Kathryn Evans explained she was excited to reveal more details of the highly-anticipated complex.
However, she insisted that changes could still be made to designs at this late stage.
She said: “It’s all becoming a bit more real now. We’re still really keen to hear back from people about what they think though.
“All the images are just proposals at the moment and we’re still open to add anything that people think we may have missed.
“At the moment it might be as easy as just changing a line on a drawing – once construction begins it could be more difficult.”
The main studio of the building will have space for up to 35 people to do workouts at the same time.
A spring-loaded floor has been included to allow for “high intensity” training to be done inside the building.
The mind and body studio has been designed to cater for yoga, pilates and ballet and includes equipment for athletes wanting to keep fit while recovering from an injury.
The GP room is a smaller version of the main gym and is intended to introduce people to equipment they may not have used before.
Ms Evans added: “We’re very aware that only about 20% of people will always go to the gym – the other 80% can find it quite intimidating.”
A cafe, conference centre and sports hall capable of hosting international events are also included in the proposals.
If approved, the sports centre could be open early next year. The plans will go before members of Moray Council’s planning committee on Tuesday, June 27.
