The organisers of a whisky auction which amassed £25,000 are preparing for another fundraiser to help improve their Speyside community.
Yesterday, the Craigellachie Village Council detailed the success of a recent sales event where rare and expensive bottles of malt went under the hammer.
The group’s fifth annual whisky auction took place in Craigellachie Village Hall and generated about £25,000.
The community organisation will benefit by almost £7,500 to continue the ongoing refurbishment of the hall and other local amenities.
The group’s members have now announced a “cream tea” afternoon fundraiser to capitalise on the momentum they have established.
A spokeswoman said: “The reputation of the auction has spread far and wide and, every year, we attract increased interest from local, national and international enthusiasts.
“The highest successful bid of the day was £2,100 for a Macallan Robbie Burns, but there was something for every budget and bidders took advantage of some good bargains.
“There was a real buzz throughout the day, and the success of the event made the hard work of our team of volunteers really worthwhile.
“Never ones to rest on our laurels, we are now planning our next event.”
The cream tea gathering takes place on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.
