A 28-year-old woman was assaulted in Cooper Park, Elgin.
Police said the incident happened near to the Lawn Bowls Club sometime between 2.30am and 3.30am on Sunday.
Officers are keen to trace four men who were in the area at the time as they may be able to assist with inquiries.
Police would also like to speak to a man who would have been walking a dog in the vicinity at the time and a further two men who would have approached and spoken to the woman as she left the area in a distressed state.
DS Kerry Rigg said: “While the woman was not injured this incident would have been frightening and has naturally left her extremely upset.
“I would urge anyone with information, or anyone that was in the area at the time and witnessed anything unusual to contact police quoting incident 4097 of 28 May.
“Anyone who may have seen persons acting suspiciously in this area around the time of the incident, or anyone with any information relating to this crime is asked to contact Police via the non-emergency number, 101, or if they wish to remain anonymous, via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
