A Moray scout troop has transformed a barren stretch of land into a campsite.
The Elgin group celebrated the achievement by spending the night on the secluded grass patch while running activities.
It is understood to be the first time people have camped on the site at the Wards for about 40 years.
The £20,000 refurbishment, which was funded by a grant from the Postcode Lottery, paid for a fence to be put up around the tent area next to the Scout hut as well as a new fire pit.
At the weekend members of the 1st Elgin Scout Troop huddled around the flames while telling stories and having sing songs following a cycling expedition to Lossiemouth.
Yesterday the youngsters were piped onto the field for a ceremony to commemorate the work done on the land.
But Paul Gray, assistant group leader, revealed the troop has further ambitions to make the site appealing for more organisations.
He said: “We want to continue to use it as a camp site, not just for ourselves but for others groups too. It’s easier to use this then go out into the country.
“We hope to develop it a little bit more though. We would like to get funding for a cabin to go round the side of the hall, which could be used as a classroom or for activities when it rains.
“It’s been brilliant to get everyone together on the camp site. It’s exactly what it was intended for.”
