The organisers of a weekend-long celebration of Moray’s food and drink delights will serve up another round later this year.
The Spirit of Speyside: Distilled event was created to capture the atmosphere of the yearly whisky festival of the same name, but over one weekend last September.
The region’s industry giants rubbed shoulders with local beer, gin and food producers to showcase Moray’s packed larder.
And a second helping has been lined up to take place at Elgin Town Hall on Friday, September 1, and throughout the following day.
The forthcoming sequel has been extended to cover two floors of the venue, with more opportunities to sample snacks and meet producers.
There will also be an increased series of tutorials staged by experts to help visitors appreciate the intricacies of Moray’s food and drink staples.
Organiser Pery Zakeri said: “Distilled is a melting pot of fantastic flavours and wonderful personalities sharing their enthusiasm for fine food and drink.
“We were delighted with the feedback from our inaugural event, and we are building on that with this year’s offering.”
Hundreds of people gathered in Elgin for last year’s bash, with many travelling from the USA, Canada and France especially for it.
Upon entry, visitors were presented with tokens which they were able to exchange for drinks of their choosing.
The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival has taken place at venues across Moray every spring for the past 18 years.
The chairman of that event, James Campbell said he wants the Distilled follow-up to become “as much of a tradition as the
Spirit of Speyside”.
Tickets for Distilled go on sale on Friday and more information is available at www.distilled.scot
