Crash causes long tailbacks on A96 west of Elgin

There are long delays on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road heading west out of Elgin, following a crash near the turn-off to Burghead.

Police have described the collision as a “rear shunt” but say that nobody was injured.

The crash took place at 2.30pm and left the westbound lane of the trunk route partially blocked.

Police are managing traffic at the scene but motorists have reported tailbacks stretching as far as the western edge of Elgin.
